Years of Kind, Caring, Thoughtful Assistance

Carl Simcox and the Senior Care Network have been a Godsend to me and my family. In 2006, Carl helped us select a senior living facility for my father-in-law, and more importantly, helped us navigate the Veterans Administration paperwork to get him benefits, which allowed him to live out his years in peace and happiness until he passed at age 93. In 2014, when my dad passed away, Carl helped us coordinate my mom’s move from their condo to a senior living facility, where she lived happily until age 92, free from worry about benefits and living expenses. In 2023, I asked Carl and the Senior Care Network for help for my friend, who, at age 82, was a victim of elder abuse from a power of attorney who was taking advantage of her. Carl and I put together a plan, which we will execute as soon as the legal issues are resolved. We will get our friend out of a nursing home and into a senior living facility where she can begin a new chapter in her life. If that is not enough, Carl is now helping me plan for care for my sister-in-law, who is recovering from cancer treatment in a rehab facility and planning to return home in the next few weeks.

Carl and this organization have exceeded all expectations. My family will be forever indebted to this group. Carl’s calm, caring, and thoughtful personality put our family’s concerns to rest and helped us make the correct, difficult choices for our loved ones. We have referred him to numerous friends who were extremely grateful for his professional and kind services. Five stars isn’t enough.

A Lifesaver in a Time of Need

Senior Care Network and Carl Simcox have been a lifesaver and Godsend for my loved one and my family. When it was time to think about moving my loved one into a memory care facility, I had no idea where to begin. A family member put me in contact with Carl Simcox and his company, Senior Care Network. Mom and I were devastated by the early-onset Alzheimer’s diagnosis my sister received. We did our best in taking care of her for a year and a half. We did the best we could until we couldn’t do it anymore. This is when the Senior Care Network came into our lives. Carl visited my sister and me and gave us great recommendations on memory care facilities. He helped me navigate through this process when I had no idea where to start.

He not only helped me with the placement aspects, but he also helped me mentally. Carl was always a phone call away to talk me through whatever feelings I had at the moment about this horrible disease. Senior Care Network saved me a lot of wasted time in trying to navigate through this myself. Thank you so much!!

Exceptional Support and Professionalism

Your team was excellent with communication, always keeping in touch with calls and texts at least a few times a day—the most professional social worker we’ve ever worked with. She went out of her way many times to seek and provide information and assistance. Your help was invaluable and eased our minds many times.

Payer sources differ between assisted living and nursing homes. In general, assisted living is private pay and nursing homes work with insurance (although there can be exceptions). Nursing homes also have the ability to provide more comprehensive medical care.
Much of this will depend upon care and location. That’s why it’s important that you don’t waste your time going from place to place. At Senior Care Network we are able to narrow your choices down based on your priorities and needs, including care, location and finances.
If your loved one needs care that is not covered by insurance, or you are worried about affording care, we can help. There are many options including VA Benefits, Medicaid, Meals on Wheels, Chore Provider programs, long-term care insurance, and other community resources. You may need to meet certain qualifications for free or low-cost programs. Our Care Managers can guide you through eligibility requirements, help you explore budget-friendly solutions, and assist with all the paperwork so you do not have to navigate it alone.
Hospital based case managers and social workers have limited knowledge of the vast amount of resources that are available to you because they stay within the hospital. Our team has personally gone out into the communities that we recommend so they have first hand knowledge of what they look like, the care they are able to provide, how much they cost and so much more. In addition we will not only provide you with a list of housing option options but we will meet you at the communities to provide you with a private tour and answer any questions you have along the way. This allows you to have your personal expert there to walk you through the process and make it as smooth as possible.
Whether you need a power of attorney or a guardian depends on your situation and your loved one’s ability to make decisions. A power of attorney is appointed by the individual while they are still able to make choices and allows someone they trust to act on their behalf. Guardianship is granted by a court when a person is no longer able to make safe, informed decisions and has not appointed a power of attorney. Our Care Managers can help you understand the differences, determine which option is best for your circumstances, and connect you with trusted legal resources to complete the process.
